Changes to the COVID-19 test requirements for entering Hong Kong
The Hong Kong SAR Government has announced changes to the type of COVID-19 test required for passengers whose final destination is Hong Kong.
With effect from Saturday, 26 June 2021, only a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based nucleic acid test will be accepted for passengers travelling from any extremely high risk, very high risk or high risk places (Group A1, A2 or B under the HKSAR Government classification system) or Taiwan. No other test types, including RT-LAMP, will be accepted by the HKSAR Government on arrival.
Please note that same-day test results may not be available for a PCR-based nucleic acid test. We suggest your travellers to check with their recognized test provider at the earliest opportunity.
If your travellers are connecting to another flight in Hong Kong, this change does not affect them. Please ensure the requirements of the final destination are met.
For more information regarding the latest travel restrictions, please visit the Hong Kong SAR government’s COVID-19 website and our COVID-19 information centre.
